I took this picture this morning on my way to work. The moon (or night) is mentioned in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Genesis 1:3-5: And God said, ” Let there be light” and there was light. God saw the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day.

When I did the challenge to “read the Bible in a year” a couple years ago, this was one of the verses that was fascinating to me because it says the day starts in the evening, at least that’s how I read it. But when I was thinking the past couple days about the moon, it hit me that each new day/date starts at midnight, when it’s still dark and then it becomes light. So maybe that’s what it means.

Psalm 8:3: When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place.

This picture has the sun putting light onto the moon and it is fascinating how God set into place both the sun and moon. The moon also becomes more or less visible, depending on the night, which has been occurring since the beginning of time. It makes me feel more connected with past, present and future.

Why is it that people become crazier on full moon nights? Is it because their darkness “sin” becomes visible when they’re trying to hide it? That is why Jesus came to take our sin so God can see it no more.

So I wanted to tie in the bridge in the picture. Bridges are made to help get from one place to another. However, in a quick Google search of Bible verses, there’s no mention of bridges. The top searches that came up were the bridge between God and man, which is Jesus. God wanted me to see that connection this morning when I stopped to take this picture.

Thank God Jesus is our Bridge from man up to God and is our light in the world of darkness.
